Careers

Build a career helping people get this right

Kingsway develops advisors. If you want work where your income reflects your effort, where you learn something genuinely useful, and where the job is helping families make better decisions, this is worth a conversation.

Why join

An honest description of the work

This is a relationship business. You meet people, understand their situation, explain options clearly, and help them act. The work is consultative and educational. The advisors who do best are the ones who are genuinely curious about people, not the ones with the smoothest pitch.

It is also a build. Income is tied to activity and results rather than hours logged, which means the early period requires real effort before it produces real return. We say that plainly because people who are surprised by it do not last, and that serves nobody.

What you get in exchange is uncommon: control over your schedule, an income that is not capped by someone else’s budget, a skill set that stays valuable, and work where doing right by people and doing well are the same thing.

What draws people here

  • Uncapped, performance-based compensation rather than a fixed salary band
  • Control over your own schedule and how you build your practice
  • Training and mentorship instead of being handed a phone list and wished luck
  • Work that is measurably useful to the families you sit down with
  • A defined path into leadership for those who want to build a team
  • A profession that transfers, because the skills stay yours

What we provide

You will not be figuring this out alone

Most people who leave this industry leave because nobody trained them. We built our onboarding specifically around that.

Licensing support

Guidance through the LLQP process and your provincial licensing requirements, including study structure, exam preparation, and the contracting paperwork that follows.

Structured training

A curriculum covering products, needs analysis, the client conversation, compliance obligations, and ethics, taught in a defined sequence rather than picked up ad hoc.

Mentorship in the field

Joint work with experienced advisors from the beginning. You observe real client meetings, then run them with support, then run them independently.

Ongoing development

Regular training sessions, case discussions, and access to people who have already solved the problem in front of you.

Independent product access

Contracts with multiple carriers and providers, so you can recommend what genuinely fits rather than defending a single shelf.

Systems and tools

A member portal with training material, tracking, and team resources so your development is visible and you always know what comes next.

Who we look for

Background matters less than you would think

Our advisors come from trades, teaching, hospitality, healthcare, sales, sport, and straight out of school. There is no required degree and no required industry background. What we cannot teach is work ethic and character.

Prior financial services experience is welcome but not necessary. Frankly, people who arrive without habits to unlearn often progress faster.

Traits that predict success here

  • People who are genuinely interested in other people, because this is a listening job before it is a selling job
  • Self-motivation, because nobody will be assigning you a task list every morning
  • Coachability, and the willingness to be corrected early rather than defend a bad habit
  • Comfort with a build period, because the first year is about learning and activity rather than immediate income
  • Integrity that holds when nobody is checking, which in a regulated industry is non-negotiable
  • A reason bigger than the money, because the money follows persistence more than talent

The path

Where this goes

Progression is based on demonstrated competence and results, not tenure and not who you know. Everyone starts in the same place.

  1. 01

    Licensing

You study, write the required exams, and complete provincial licensing and contracting. We guide the sequence and keep you accountable to a timeline.

  2. 02

    Foundation

Core training on products and process, joint fieldwork with a mentor, and your first client conversations with support in the room.

  3. 03

    Independent practice

You run your own client meetings end to end, build a referral base, and develop the working rhythm that fits how you want to practise.

  4. 04

    Leadership

For those who want it: mentoring newer advisors, building and developing a team, and taking on responsibility for others’ results as well as your own.

Compensation is commission-based and varies with individual results. We will walk through the specifics openly in conversation rather than publish figures that could set the wrong expectation.

Before you apply

Questions candidates ask

Do I need to be licensed before applying?
No. Most people who join us are not licensed yet. We guide you through the LLQP and provincial licensing process as part of onboarding.
Can I start part-time?
Many advisors begin while still working elsewhere, then transition as their practice supports it. What matters is that the hours you do commit are consistent and protected.
How long before I earn anything?
That depends on how quickly you license and how much activity you generate. It is not immediate, and anyone who promises you a number is not being straight with you. We would rather you plan for a build period.
Is this employment or self-employment?
Advisors operate on a commission basis. The precise contracting arrangement is something we go through in detail during the process, in writing, before you commit to anything.
What does the process look like?
An initial conversation to see whether it makes sense for both sides, a deeper interview covering expectations candidly, and then a decision. We would rather say no early than onboard someone into a poor fit.

Next step

Start with a conversation

No resume required to begin. Send us a note about your background and why this interests you, and we will set up a call to see whether it is a fit for both of us.

Already licensed and looking for a better fit?

If you are licensed and considering a move, we are happy to have a confidential conversation about how we operate and what independence looks like here.
